Vienna, Danube flats
Useable area: 28,000 sqm, 500 apartments
The architecture competition for the redesign of the Cineplexx building complex at the Reichsbrücke has come to a close at the end of September 2012. The architectural team “project A01 architects“ led by Andreas Schmitzer and Maria Planegger managed to convince the jury during the two-stage procedure with their plan of a residence tower, which has been selected as winner project.
Danube Flats, so the name of the new landmark project, will be developed directly at the New Danube.
The consortium composed of S+B Gruppe and Soravia Group will build some 500 owner-occupied or freehold flats, as well as flats for lower-income persons on 45 floors – nearly all having access to a balcony or a terrace. In the base building there will be social infrastructure facilities like kindergartens, bakeries, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, cleaning shops, tobacconists and other local suppliers for daily needs.
